Drawing on the foundations of constitutional pluralism, the project aims to bring empirical evidence to elucidate the role of constitutional courts (‘CCs’) in EU integration. The project examines the integrating effects of judicial dialogue between CCs and the CJEU through preliminary reference procedure. It identifies the legal and extra-legal factors impacting the use of that procedure. Finally, the study examines the role of CCs outside the preliminary reference mechanism.
