The aim of the proposed project is to analyse the work of the Trieste prose writer Italian Svevo (1861-1928), a prominent representative of Italian literary modernity, in the prospective of ecological literary criticism. In line with the contemporary turn of the humanities towards post-humanistic approaches, I intend to point out the sensitivity with which Svevo captured the crisis of modern man in the urban environment, his uprooting, inner dissatisfaction and exploitation of nature.
