Popis The influence of the microbiome on organismal physiology is now undeniable. There is wide recognition that animal microbiomes are unique among individuals and species, intertwined with its host to regulate reproduction, behavior, and growth among other processes. Recently, there has been several investigations into animal microbiomes, many studying microbiota in relation to the evolutionary process of animals, ecology and conservation, physiological adaptation, chemical pollution, and global phenomena such as climate change and ocean acidification. Ultimately, one can argue that the microbiome plays a central role in species survival in all habitats worldwide.
