| Popis | Based on Hans-Jörg Rheinberger's definition of experiments and experimental systems, this text examines the experimental character of performance art. Using four case studies from different historical and socio-political contexts (Ana Mendieta, Jan Mlčoch, Ewa Partum, and Christoph Studer-Harper), I examine which aesthetic decisions lead to the transgression of the old (a core characteristic of the experiment) and which strategies the artists use to control the risks that come with experimentation. |
