| Popis | The Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022 dramatically reset the international geopolitical system and has endangered the several-decades-long peace prevailing in Europe. Amongst the loudest critics and most vocal supporters of Ukraine has been Estonia, contradicting assumptions about the behaviour of small states. The paper examines the development of the Estonian position and, via narrative analysis, shows how the smallest of the Baltic nations, by using its expertise and knowledge, supported by confident and assertive proposals, has refused to behave as a typical small state and has thus reshaped our preconceptions. The article contributes to our understanding of smart state strategy and how being small can be a mere state of mind. |
