| Popis | The study deals with the surface microstructure of hair in some children's diseases, namely Netherton's syndrome, Refsum disease, Herter disease and Menkes' syndrome. Hair from 5 patients was prepared and compared with hair from healthy individuals. The supradermal part of hair was photographed using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). In all 4 diseases, similar destructive morphological changes were observed, namely hair torsion, detachment of cuticular scales (cells) up to partial shedding, and deformation of cuticular cells. None of these destructive morphological changes were observed in hair from healthy individuals. |
