Popis This study examines the integration of climate considerations into the EIA process, with a particular focus on screening decisions for mining projects in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Poland. While Directive 2014/52/EU explicitly requires the assessment of both mitigation and adaptation, national methodologies remain general and lack operational tools. The empirical analysis shows that climate factors are often addressed only formally at the screening stage, weakening its preventive function. Three main challenges are identified: the methodological gap, the “drop in the ocean” effect, and the temporal mismatch between short-term decision-making and long-term climate risks. The study recommends more detailed methodological guidance and systemic solutions through stronger linkage with Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA).
