Popis Across Slavic languages, aspect is typically used to distinguish between ongoing and completed events. However, as Dickey (2000) observes, there is variation in Slavic aspectual systems for perfective habitual events. This talk explores such variation in Ukrainian speaking children living in Poland and Czech Republic. The experiment discovered a significant three-way interaction between Aspect, Context and Group. Specifically, we observe higher acceptance of ungrammatical structures (habitual adverb + perfective aspect) by Ukrainian children immersed in Czech vs Polish.
