| Popis | The volume deals with the relations between the Holy Roman King and Emperor Sigismund (1410/11–1437) and a region in the south of the Empire, which comprises today's Old Bavaria and the Austrian Land of Salzburg. It begins with an overview of research on Sigismund's Imperial policy, identifying gaps and questions in research (Petr Elbel). Four extensive chapters then examine in detail the relations between the King and the Bavarian Wittelsbachs and their territories (Uwe Tresp), the Bavarian bishops and bishoprics (Philipp Laumer), the Free City of Regensburg (Alexandra Kaar) and the Bavarian nobility (Sonja Lessacher). The chapters are based on profound, source-based analyses and, not least, on the question of what the results achieved for Bavaria indicate for the overall assessment of Emperor Sigismund's reign in the Empire. |
