| Popis | The paper aims to define party Eurooptimism as an ideal type. The authors demonstrate the inability to draw boundary between soft Euroscepticism and a pragmatic pro-EU position. Therefore, the construct of Eurooptimism is a logical contrast to hard Euroscepticism. Eurooptimist parties are those which see European integration as a goal in itself, emphasise the salience of EU issues in their agenda, and are path-dependent in their long-term support of integration. Further, the EU narratives of the Czech TOP 09, Estonian Reform Party, French Democratic Movement, and pan-European Volt are analysed to demonstrate core features of current Eurooptimism. The research shows the compatibility of genuine party Eurooptimism with different ideological positions. |
