Análisis de errores de puntuación en la interlengua de aprendientes de ELE con L1 checo

| Popis | This article explores punctuation errors in the writing of a group of B1-B2 level university learners of Spanish as a Foreign Language whose L1 is Czech. The aims of the study are to analyze and describe, both quantitatively and qualitatively, the punctuation errors detected in a corpus of 47,616 words, consisting of 244 texts, in order to establish their causes and to identify recurring error patterns in the punctuation of Czech L1 learners. The methodology is based on Error Analysis [Corder 1967], and the linguistic, strategic, and etiological criteria [Vázquez 1999; Santos Gargallo 2004; Alexopoulou 2006] were applied to classify and explain the errors. The results show a total of 477 errors distributed among commas, periods, colons, semicolons, question marks, exclamation marks, and quotation marks. In addition, the omission of the comma was found to be the most frequent error, with a total of 338 cases, particularly in adversative coordination, non-defining relative clauses, and adverbial clauses, including other contexts. The main cause of the errors appears to be the interference from Czech, in addition to other reasons, such as lack of knowledge and inattention. The frequent occurrence of similar errors among learners with other L1 backgrounds further underscores the common nature of these punctuation difficulties. |
