| Popis | The study aims to contribute to Catalan paremiology and provide a view of familial relationships and the social values transmitted by proverbs that include both the paternal and maternal figures. At the same time, it seeks to observe the connotation of the mother’s figure in relation to the father, as there are studies that show that proverbs tend to be harsher on women than on men. The results obtained demonstrate a rich range of themes in which both parents and their mutual relationship, their relationships with the children, and their educational attitudes are treated from different perspectives, with both positive and negative connotations, reflecting different circumstances of the lives of humans belonging to a certain culture. The analyzed proverbs, although in some respects they can be considered a reflection of a patriarchal society, do not follow an overtly disrespectful or misogynistic orientation. |
