| Popis | The recent dark core of personality construct represents the common inner core of dark personality traits and encompasses the antagonistic, aversive, and malevolent nature part of the human psyche. The current research aims at developing two very short unidimensional and invariant measures of the original dark core of personality D70 measure that are also included in the recent D25 measure. A sample of participants (N = 475, M = 35.11 years, SD = 11.39 years, range = 18–70 years) from Portugal agreed to collaborate in the current study. The new D5 and D10 very short measures were developed, consisting of five items and ten items, respectively. The expected one-factor model obtained adequate fits in both measures, and internal consistency was also good. Cross-gender measurement invariance and known-group validity were established, with males scoring significantly higher than female participants. Construct validity (e.g. with psychopathy and self-control) and criterion-related validity (e.g. with criminal variables) were demonstrated. Our findings provide support for the use of the D5 and D10 as very short, valid, and reliable measures of the dark core of personality. |
