Popis The life cycle of Sericostoma flavicorne was investigated in the South Moravian stream Chvojnice (Czech Republic). This species was an eudominant (15.48 %) and an euconstant (95.24 %) element of the caddisflies community in the stream. Twenty-one quantitative samples were taken between April 1, 1998 and March 29, 1999. All specimens of caddisflies were sorted; the length and width of the head capsule of 559 specimens of Sericostoma flavicorne were measured to the nearest 0.014 mm. It was impossible to distinguish sharply the instars, because proportions of the head capsule were overlapping. Nevertheless, the life cycle could be investigated. Most of larvae hatched at the turn of July and August, and after two overwinterings they pupated in May and June. Obtained data indicates that Sericostoma flavicorne requires two years for development under the conditions of the South Moravian stream.
