Popis Salmonella cells can be detached using immonomagnetic particles from competitive microflora or environments containing extracellular PCR inhibitors. As comercially avaiable Dynabeads anti-Salmonella magnetic particles are characterised by hydrophobic properties, magnetic hydrophilic non-porous microspheres, 1.5um in size, were developed. They were prepared by dispersion copolymerisation of 2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate and ethylene dimethacrylate (poly(HEMA-co-EDMA))or glycidylmethacrylate (poly(HEMA-co-GMA)). Such particles were functionalised by specific Salmonella antibodies and successfully used in IMS-CM and IMS-PCR arrangements.
